Excellent for GameBoy Player,
I bought this controller specifically for my GameBoy Player. This feels almost exactly like a Super NES controller, and it’s great for the GameBoy games and for GCN retro games like the Legend of Zelda Collecter’s Edition and Sonic Mega Collection.
The button layout is almost the same as the standard GCN controller, the differences being that there is a select button and that the Z button in in the center of the face rather than on the shoulder. The Z button seems to be better placed on the face. The select button is just an alternate Y button, but that works fine with the GameBoy Player.
The buttons are a little stiff, and it makes playing for long periods of time uncomfortable. The directional pad is nice, but it replaces the directional pad from the standard GCN controller, not the analog stick, so you can’t use it for any games that require the analog stick (which, if you get it just for the GameBoy, doesn’t matter anyway).
Overall, I feel that it is a worthwhile purchase, and am glad I bought it. I haven’t had it for very long, though, so I can’t comment on the durability.
