Materials:18 gallon sterilite tub, top soil, egg crate, dog food and cricket food, spray bottle, 25 adult crickets I first started with a 10 gallon tank and taped all the silicone edges. then i taped the glass sides about a inch from the top. (use clear packing tape for all the taping) Then i put about 1.5 – 2 inches of peat based soil with no chemicals in, covering the whole bottom of the tank. i put some egg carton pieces in so the female crickets can push her probe in the ground and give them more floor space so they don’t eat each other. (KEEP THE GROUND MOIST. NOT SOAKED.) for food i use crushed dog food for the babes but whole pieces are ok for the big crickets. (always have food in the tank.) For water i get some paper towels and fold them until they are 4 inches across. keep it wet at all times. get 25 adult crickets and put them in the tank. keep the tank warm but not hot. make sure it’s not to humid. after about 1½ – 2 weeks take the adults out. you should start to see babes at 2.5 – 3 weeks. they take care of them selves if you do all the stuff above. they grow fast and should be ready to feed at 3.5 – 6 weeks old. (depending on what size you need) remember to save some for breeding again. (24 of them or more for bigger containers) you can have a second set-up to breed them again asap. you can also use a bigger container set up exactly like the 10 gallon and get more baby crickets like i did but if you don’t need that many crickets than the smaller set-up is …
